Congratulations for taking the first step in becoming a volunteer!  At the United Way of Mercer County, volunteers are a significant part of the social service team.

 

Office Volunteers: Often needed to help with day-to-day clerical & administrative duties at the United Way office in Sharon.

 

Special Events Volunteers: Duties are as varied as the events themselves - you might pass out tee shirts, assist attendees in completing a sign-in sheet, or make use of  your special talent (DJ, bartender, airbrush painter, etc.).  Major United Way fund-raising events occur during evening hours or on weekends. 

Allocation Volunteers: Needed to work as part of a team to perform agency assessment program reviews of United Way affiliate agencies seeking program funding for 2010 - 2011.  This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the nonprofit agencies that receive support from your United Way of Mercer County contributions.  Allocations Volunteers are crucial in the decision-making process for program funding.  The total time commitment will range from 5-8 hours, beginning in January, finishing up in March.  A training session will be provided.
